History

This owlet was found in the middle of the street by the callers to our rescue line. It was picked up in Sycamore , IN. The callers were very concerned as it appears it was being attacked by some starlings plus there was a number of cars driving in the area. This sweet couple drove the bird to our treatment facility. It was examined and determined to be healthy. On 05/22 our volunteers drove this guy back to Sycamore to try to renest it. Unfortunately there was no obvious Eastern Screech Owl nests to be found. There had been a tree trimming service in the area, the concern was that it been on a trimmed limb and put in the truck. There was no way to determine its nest’s location. It was decided the safest thing to do was to bring it back to our treatment facility and make sure it could find food on its own and eventually move it in with some of our education Eastern Screech Owls until it was old enough to be released 06/06/2020 This owlet is finally eating on its own so will soon be moved to our rehabilitation facility with other screech owls until it is old enough to release 06/14/2020 This owlet has been moved to our rehabilitation facility with the other orphaned owl.
