History

Initial exam:  This juvenile red-tailed hawk was emaciated, dehydrated and had flat flies.  Blood work revealed a mild anemia and radiographs did not reveal any fractures.  He was treated with ivermectin and poultry powder for the flat flies, subcutaneous fluids for dehydration and tube feeding for nutrition.  He has a poor prognosis due to his severe emaciation. 10/07/2017 He is a survivor!  He finally gained enough weight to be moved from an ICU cage to a flight pen with several other red-tails.  10/10/2017 He began creance flying today and did great for his first time! 10/19/2017 He is doing very well in his flight conditioning.  He flies without becoming winded, he can turn well, he flies without struggling.  He may be ready for release soon!
