20191001-Cooper's Hawk - 1
Via volunteer Kim N.: This Cooper’s hawk was found on a friend’s front porch lying on it’s back. Kim T., the property owner, immediately covered bird with a laundry as suggested until I could pick up. Upon arrival, the bird was still on its back. When picked up for placement in the box, the bird was found to be very responsive and tried to talon me. The hawk was taken to Pine Valley for evaluation. 10/01/19 The veterinarian's exam and an x-ray showed no broken bones or obvious injuries. It is being kept in our treatment facility for treatment and given medication for pain as a precautions 10/06/19 We were concerned that this Hawk had some neurological issues because it kept flipping itself on its back. It didn't appear to be able to stand on a perch. It finally started perching yesterday 10/12/19 This Hawk has been moved to one of our falconers pens. Coopers Hawks are notoriously high strung. They do much better in a larger pen. It was not eating on his own , which can be caused by stress. The vets felt this move would work better for it 12/15/19 There has been no change to this birds status 1/5/2020 The status of this bird has not changed
