20250610-Great Horned Owl-1

On June 10th, a man called Soarin’Hawk reported an owl on the Bueschings Peat property. The caller said that the owl was out in the open, among piles of peat and mulch. When the owl was approached, he flew low into some bushes and landed hard.

When I got there, he was easy to get into a net and then a carrier. I saw no obvious injuries, but his keel was a little thin.  Upon examination at the ICU, he was x-rayed, and no injuries were found. When Dr. Riebe examined him, he thought this was just an old bird. He was placed in a cage for further observation.
