This evening, a Conservation Officer contacted Lana, saying he had an owl that had been shot with a BB gun. An investigation revealed a Juvenile had been shooting at sparrows and hit a Short Eared Owl by mistake. The bird was injured in Topeka, Lagrange County, Indiana. I met Off—Smalley at SR 327 and US 20. An exam revealed a broken humerus and a keel of two. I transported the owl to the ICU for triage and assisted Tish with stabilizing the wing. Unfortunately, the bird's shattered wing was unrepairable, and it was humanely euthanized.
