20230830-Great Horned Owl-1-X

2023/08/2023 - The bird succumbed to injuries and was humanely euthanized.  

We received a call from another rehabber asking if we could help by taking in an injured Great Horned Owl.  Matt found the owl in a corn plot that he has set aside for deer.  The bird was approximately 120 yards off of the road in Roann, IN.  Matt took the owl to another rehabber who transported it to me in Roanoke, IN.  I loaded up the owl and headed back to Huntertown where it was immediately triaged by Kim.  It was found to be blind, both eyes were completely dilated and it also had a head tilt.  Was this a result of a collision with a vehicle?  We will never know.
