20230718-Red-tailed Hawk-3

A traveling caller reported a hawk on the shoulder of I-469 N near SR 37 exit.  Rescues on a highway, any highway, are scary.  The vehicles don't slow down when there's a human walking on the shoulder.

 

This bird was on the highway side of a bridge guardrail with about two feet to the driving lane!  I was able to approach from the birds back side and get a net over him and retreat to a little distance from the highway to transfer him to my carrier.  Twenty minutes later he was in ICU and I had another call for a rescue!   -- Rescuer Ross
