On August 31, the rescue line received a call from Anna about a hawk that had been on the ground for 2 days in Albion. She said the bird was in her garage. I asked her to close the garage door until I found someone to rescue the bird. Luckily, volunteer Pam Wolfe responded immediately, and set out to get the bird. When Pam arrived, she found a juvenile turkeyvulture huddled in the back of a storage shed. The bird was too big for Pam's transport box, so she went to a nearby grocery and got a bigger box. After some finagling, Pam was able to secure the bird and transport the youngster to ICU.
