Cause of Admission

Soarin' Hawk received a call from Jerry saying he had found a Bald Eagle in his woods. The eagle was tangled in vegetation and vines. Jerry was able remove the plants but the bird was lethargic and unable to stand. Upon my arrival the Hochstetlers had moved the eagle to their barn and placed a fence around it. A preliminary exam revealed a very thin, immature eagle with a bad twitch. The bird was transported to our I.C.U. for triage and removal of fly eggs. Photos are attached. 08/09/10 We are cautiously optimistic about this eagles recovery. It has started to eat on its own
