History

This baby screech was found in Columbia City standing in a parking lot by itself. Gratefully, a concerned citizen picked this little one up and brought to the SoarinHawk facility. Upon initial examination there were no significant injuries found. It is being housed in our ICU with another nestling. There were no trees nearby so re-nesting was not an option. It is being monitored closely to ensure proper growth. 05/28/21 This young owl continues to thrive 06/04/21 This young owl is doing well. It has been paired with another young eastern screech owl for companionship. They are both doing well and eating on their own. It is just a matter of waiting for them to grow enough to be released 08/02/21 This owl is well and healthy but we cannot get either one of these young owls to pass a live prey test. We have moved an adult owl in with them in the hopes it might teach them how to hunt. But it doesn't seem to be working at the moment
