20210514-Eastern Screech Owl-1
On Friday afternoon about 3 PM a caring landowner in New Haven called about a tiny owl that was on the ground. It had been contained and was available for pickup. One of our volunteers was there an about 15 minutes to pick up a baby Eastern Screech Owl. This youngster was transported to Soarin' Hawk ICU where it received saline solution for rehydration and was cleared to be "renested" the next morning. Saturday morning about 10:30 AM the nest cavity had been located (there were several possibilities) and a plan in place. This little fellow was feeling very feisty and ready to go back home. He was placed in a plastic bucket and hoisted up to the top of the ladder then placed in the nest cavity by a friendly gloved hand. He very quickly made his way up the vertical hollow limb and out of site. property owner promised to keep an eye out for him if he were to make that mistake again! Good look little guy....
