20201201-Snowy Owl-1

Received a call about a Snowy Owl that had been cut out of a wire fence in Howe and was taken to the DNR station. When I arrived he was in a dog cage and had no apparent injuries, until I removed him from the cage and noted several abrasions on his right wing. I thanked the DNR folks for their call, gave them several of our brochures to hand out to folks and left for ICU.   When i arrived, Maraiah and Diana were there and did the triage on the bird. It did have several areas of abrasions and muscle tears. He was treated and put in the incubator. As always we hope and pray these guys can get better and get back to nature. Prayers for you little guy.   Bill Oberg 12/4/2020 This owl needed stiches to repair its torn tendons and muscles. It is eating well and quite feisty. We have started physical therapy and will move it too a transitional pen. It will have more room there and will be able to exercise its wing and rebuild its strength 12/16/2020 this owl continues to improve.  12/26/2020 This owl continues it's rehabilitation. We are performing physical therapy on its wing and monitoring it's wing injury for proper healing 01/10/2021 We continue to see improvement in this birds injuries 01/21/2021 We continue to see improvement in this birds injuries 02/05/2021 We continue to see improvement in this birds injuries 02/28/21 We continue to see improvement in this owl's wing injuries. We are optimistic for it recovery 03/15/21 This owl has finally started flying in its enclosure. It's wing injury is healing well. We will be moving it to a larger flight pen soon 03/28/21 We continue to see improvement in this owl's flying status 04/18/21 We are hopeful for a possible release for this owl. We continue seeing improvement in its injury and flight
