20201010-Turkey Vulture-1

Received a call about rescuing a Turkey Vulture. Went to this house in the middle of nowhere. Nice couple found him hiding in the brush just outside her house. They indicated it may have been there for a day or so. They noticed that a dead cat in front of their house had disappeared the day before. Their dog was barking at the area to the side of their house. They went in to get the bird and put it in their shed. I gave them brochures, indicated how they can follow the bird and they were grateful. Very nice folks. Took the bird to ICU where he was triaged by Diana. His head was hanging badly. When he was examined, there was nothing really found to be wrong with him. He was moved to our rehabilitation facility because he was getting very upset in our treatment facility. This level of stress is not benefiicial to a birds recovery   As always we hope and pray that these guys can return to the wild. The best we can is give this young vulture something for pain and allow it to heal in a quiet environment 10/14/2020 This vulture was becoming quite stressed out in a small enclosure. It was moved to our rehabilitation facility . the large enclosure is a better environment for it.
