This adult red tail hawk was seen sitting on the side of the road in Laotto , IN A kind good samaritan contacted our rescue coordinator.  He was directed to take this injured bird to our treatment facility. Its initial examination revealed a possible head injury because it was actively bleeding from its nares and there was a large amount if blood in its mouth. A possible fracture of its lower left leg. Xrays are being performed today. 04/26/2020 This bird is now eating on its own. It is being given pain medication and an antibiotic. It will remain in our treatment facility until the medication is discontinued 05/05/2020 This mature hawk will be moving to our rehabilitation facility this weekend. In one week we will begin creance training, Creancing is when a bird is tethered to a line and allowed to free fly for a predetermined distance. This allows us to evaluate it's flight to decide if it will be releasable 05/17/2020 This guys first creance didn't go quite as well as hoped but that is not unusual. 06/06/2020 This hawk is doing much better during its creance sessions 07/19/2020 This hawk continues to gain strength 08/03/2020 This hawk's status remains the same 09/06/2020 This hawk's status remains the same
