History

Our rescue line received a call about a red-tailed hawk that wasn't flying or trying to get away. The bird was found while this rescuer was walking in the woods. One of our volunteers went to Pleasant Lake, Indiana to pick up this bird and take it to our treatment center. No issues were discovered for this bird.  Our veterinarian decided it was what we call "young and dumb.”  It hadn't quite figured out how to take care of itself yet.  It will stay in our treatment center until it gains some strength back and gains some weight.   12/22/18 This hawk was moved to our rehabilitation facility.   02/24/2019 This red-tail has been creance flying, and has done so well that his trainers believe he is ready for release!  At the end of one of his recent flights, another red-tailed hawk came out of the treeline and landed on the ground for a short visit with our bird!
