20170610-Barred Owl
Received a call that FWACC had a baby owl they had picked and wanted to transfer to us. I meet with Adam who had a baby Barred. A homeowner had called FWACC about an owl who had been hanging on the trunk of a tree right outside the nest when he fell to the ground. Homeowner stated he had been hanging there quite awhile before he fell. They were concerned for his safety because there were some hawks circling around the area. I contacted the homeowner to find out exactly were the nest was. They stated the mother had been flying around and there was another baby in the nest. After surveying the tree, and evaluating the baby, I contacted a fellow volunteer to discuss re-nesting the owl. A few volunteers met the next day to re-nest the baby. We successfully put the baby back but baby #2 fell out of the nest onto the ground! So we got him back up into the tree where he decided to hunker down in the nest. We watched baby #1 as he climbed his way up into the tree and maneuvered over into another tree where momma was keeping an eye out!
